UK man Christopher Laidler dies after falling from building in Thailand

Local media has named the man as Briton Christopher Laidler, who fell from the third floor of a guest house and died in hospital.

A British man who reportedly fell from the third floor of a guesthouse in Thailand has died, the Foreign Office has confirmed.
The man, believed to be Christopher Laidler, 31, was naked when he fell from the Sweet Heart guesthouse in Pattaya, according to the Bangkok Post.
The paper said he was pronounced dead after being rushed to Pattaya Memorial Hospital.
A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: "We are providing assistance to the family of a British national who has sadly died in Thailand."
The Bangkok Post added that police had found no traces of a struggle in Mr Laidler's room, while his belongings had not been touched.

Persecution of Christians on the rise, says charity

Security is being tightened at the UK headquarters of the Coptic Church in response to the twin bombings last week. The number of Christians being persecuted globally has risen over the last four years, according to a charity. Figures from Open Doors show that each month 322 Christians are persecuted, 214 churches and religious buildings are destroyed, and there are 772 acts of violence. At least 44 people were killed in the twin church bombings of Coptic churches in Egypt on Palm Sunday.
